FUTURE PROOF – BLOG BY FUTURES PLATFORM

Market projections and the analysis of what might disrupt them tend to live in separate documents. Bringing them into one flow changes what you can do with both.

In Synapse, your explorations can now draw on over 100,000 market forecasts, attached to the drivers of change they inform. You can see the market projection and analyse how it might play out across different future scenarios, in the same place.

How the market forecasts appear in an exploration

Market forecasts can now be included as a source on the Sources page, alongside expert-curated market reports, future phenomena analyses and the documents your team brings in. The forecasts come from Futures Platform's curated market research repository, aggregated from trusted research providers, and project market growth and related indicators across the next three to ten years.

You switch the collection on rather than picking datasets one by one, and the AI agents identify the most relevant forecasts for your exploration. Within Synapse's sense-making flow, the forecast sits at the end of the description of the driver of change it informs. Open it and the data appears in two views, chart and table, with year by year values as you move across the chart.

Reading a market forecast the way a futurist reads one

In the Futures Intelligence framework, market data and extrapolation sit in the known-knowns quadrant. They form the solid, quantitative base of the future-focused analysis: developments that can be projected with confidence from verified evidence. While this ground carries real weight in a strategy discussion, it also has its limitations. A forecast extends present conditions forward and assumes they hold. Scenario work exists precisely to ask what happens when they do not.

Bringing market forecasts into the same flow as your trend radar and alternative future scenarios puts quantitative data and qualitative analysis in one shared view. You can read the projected trajectory for a market, then work through which of the four scenarios would bend it, stall it, or push it past the projected numbers. The quantitative baseline gives your scenarios something concrete to act on. The qualitative scenario analysis keeps that baseline honest and helps you explore what happens if the curve does not continue.

Export your report to PowerPoint
